Innocence

PETE GRADOWSKI

The innocence of childhood was brought into my world recently. I didn't have a baby if that's what you were thinking. I was driving home from work, just driving down the street. I saw a couple of kids playing baseball in the street. They dropped what they were doing and ran to the ice cream man. Remember the ice cream man?

I have been thinking. When you are a kid, it seems that the parents job is to shield all the harsh realties from you. All you cared about was how fair something was and whether you could go out to play. Play. When was the last time you called up one of your friends and asked if they could go play?

As you get older, teenagers start to do things that could be considered bad. What do teenagers do with the mistakes? The teenager tries to hide them from their parents. It's funny.

As an adult you get to start the cycle all over again, and shield life. It's really funny how we as a society act. Think about it.
