Space...the Final Sale: In February, two Russian cosmonauts aboard the Mir space station sold NASA space pens and other out-of-this-world items on the American QVC shopping channel to raise money for Russia's underfunded space program. A total of 530 people made purchases ranging from $32 pens to $25,000 Sokol KV-2 spacesuits.

A Recipe that Can Not Fail

St. Stanislaus Parish in Fall River, MA

Take twelve fine luscious full-grown months. See that they are free from memories of bitterness and jealousy.

Separate them completely from all clinging particles of spite.

Pick off all specks of pettiness. Have them as fresh and clean as they were when they first came from the storehouse of time.

Cut these months into thirty parts.

This portion will keep for only one year. Do not attempt to make the whole bunch up at one time, as so many people spoil the entire batch this way.

Prepare only one day at a time as follows.

Into each day put:

  • 12 parts of faith
  • 11 parts of patience
  • 10 parts of sincerity
  • 9 parts of cheer
  • 8 parts of understanding
  • 7 parts of confidence
  • 6 parts of rest
  • 5 parts of loyalty
  • 4 parts of hope
  • 3 parts of charity
  • 2 parts of prayer
  • and one well selected resolution.

Add to this one heaping teaspoonful of good spirits, a dash of fun, a pinch of gaiety, a sprinkling of play, and a generous cup of good humor.

Pour into the whole a liberal amount of love and happiness and mix with mirth.

Cook thoroughly into a fervent heat, garnish with laughter and a sprig of joy.

Then serve with quietness, unselfishness, and courage, and a successful year is a certainty.
